Trusted, Local Portland Medicare Planning Agency

As an independent Medicare broker, we clear up the confusion to match individuals with Medicare plans that meet their needs.

Why Choose a Local Medicare Broker in Portland?

Senior Benefits

Medicare options are highly localized. A plan that looks exceptional on paper in another area might leave you completely out-of-network with your preferred doctors close to home.

Whether you prefer to see providers within Providence Health & Services, Legacy Health, Adventist Health, Hillsboro Medical, OHSU, Kaiser Permanente, or local independent clinics, we know exactly which plans work with hospital systems across the Portland metro area.

Blair Jensen and his team do the heavy lifting of cross-referencing your prescription drug profile and provider preferences to recommend plans that will have your providers in-network with the lowest possible drug costs.

Clear Paths to the Medicare Coverage You Need

Medicare Supplements (Medigap)

Protect yourself from unexpected, sky-high out-of-pocket medical bills. We help you compare standardized plans that pick up financial gaps where Original Medicare Part A and Part B leave off.

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Discover comprehensive, all-in-one alternatives managed by private insurers. These plans cover hospital and medical care, bundle in prescription coverage, and frequently feature built-in perks like dental, vision, or fitness memberships.

Prescription Drug Plans (Part D)

Never over pay at the pharmacy counter again. We analyze your specific medication, preferred local and mail order pharmacies annually to ensure you know what to expect and receive the lowest possible drug costs.

We’ll review your enrollment timeline, your current prescription list, and the Portland-area doctors or hospital networks you prefer to keep seeing.

4. Lifetime Support &
Annual Rate Reviews

Our relationship doesn't end when your plan begins. Insurance carriers change their rates, benefits, doctor networks, and prescription formularies every single year. As your Medicare planning advisors, we can review your coverage annually during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). If a new opportunity opens up to secure better rates, lower your drug costs, or improve your overall coverage, we’ll bring it to your attention so you never over pay for your healthcare.

Frequently Asked Questions About Medicare Planning in Portland

What does a Medicare planning advisor do?

A Medicare planning advisor helps you navigate the complex world of Medicare. We analyze your health needs, budget, and doctor preferences, explain the differences between various plans, and manage your enrollment. Think of us as your personal guide and advocate throughout your Medicare transition.

Our services are always free. As independent brokers, we work with all the different insurance companies. The companies compensate us when we help you sign up for a plan. Whether you enroll on your own or use our services, there is no difference in premiums.

We recommend reaching out to us about at least 3 months or earlier before your 65th birthday. This kicks off your 7-month Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), giving us plenty of time to evaluate your options, avoid late-enrollment penalties, and ensure your new coverage begins seamlessly the first day of your birth month.

Medicare Supplements work alongside Original Medicare (Parts A and B) to help pay for out-of-pocket costs like deductibles and copays, allowing you to see any doctor in the country who accepts Original Medicare. Medicare Advantage (Part C) is another option that uses provider networks. These plans typically include additional benefits not covered by Original Medicare, such as dental, vision, hearing, and fitness memberships. It works almost identically to the coverage you’ve had all your life.

Ensuring you keep your trusted doctors is one of our highest priorities. We always check to make sure your specific medical providers are covered by the plans we recommend to you, including preferred hospitals like Providence, Legacy, OHSU, Adventist, and others.

We use software to input your medications, dosages, and pharmacy. The system analyzes all available plans in the Portland metro area to find the best option for your prescriptions at the lowest cost.

Yes, we highly recommend it. Insurance companies frequently alter their premiums, benefits, doctor networks, and covered drug lists (formularies) from year to year. We provide ongoing support by reviewing your policy annually during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) from October 15 to December 7 to ensure your plan remains the most cost-effective option for the upcoming year.

If you have creditable health coverage through an employer with 20 or more employees, you may be able to delay enrolling in Medicare without penalty. We can compare your current employer plan side-by-side with Medicare to determine if switching now or staying on group insurance makes the most financial sense for you.

It is possible, but subject to certain rules. For individuals that are already on a Medicare Supplement in Oregon, you can use the state’s “Birthday Rule” to switch between Supplement plans without medical underwriting. However, if you want to change from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, it typically requires you to answer medical questions and pass medical underwriting qualifications (except in certain situations), which is why making the right choice early on is so vital.
